Lavolta asked a number of CEOs the above question: Augmented Reality – Financially viable or gimmicky technology driven fad? If you’re a long time reader of Games Alfresco, I don’t suppose I’ll need to expound on my views. But I would like to hear what your thoughts are about the comments made by the various CEOs (about fifteen.)

Now for some hyperbole from me;
Augmented Reality is the inevitable future for much of the world. The advantages of a purely digital distribution/emulation of information and services will become increasingly apparent as resources get more expensive.
Whether it will happen now, in 50 years, or 100 I don’t know. I personally think it will hit massively due to gaming over the next few years and develop potentiality from there.
Long before we need it from a large “resource efficiency” standpoint. But one way or another it will come.
Just as a computer as replaced the typewriter, encyclopaedia,music player, calculator, and a million other devices, so will AR replace every form a computer can take with just 1.
